New design by Terhi Tuominen on ICFF in New York

Fold - New design by Terhi Tuominen will be shown at the ICFF -International Contemporary Furniture Fair, in New York alongside the Blackbird flock, which design experts have honoured through the red dot award: product design 2008.

The characteristic feature of the wood comes in its geometrical folds. With precision to the fine detailing acute angles are used to create the 3-dimensional surfaces given to the seat and backrest. Ultimately this results in an ultra smart, lightweight stackable dining chair.

Presented at the ICFF, North America’s premier event for contemporary design, the yearly fair draws the most diverse assemblage of design professionals to an extraordinary display of the world’s cutting-edge modern furniture, a rigorous curriculum of programs, and a full calendar of ancillary exhibits and features.

Furo – Japanese authentic bath

At 2008 edition of the design week in Milan last April, Japanese two top designers Ryu Kosaka and Yukio Hashimoto presented an exclusive series of bathtubs and washbasins aiming to introduce a new philosophy of bathroom culture in Europe and in the world.

The “FURO - Japanese authentic bath exhibition” showed how Japanese “FURO” (the way of taking a bath), the local natural resources (like wood and natural lacquer) and the skills of a millenary artisan tradition can converge into new aesthetic expression.

Hinoki bathtub

ryu-kosaka.jpgCombining a contemporary fluid shape - a circle section and slightly rounded walls to natural materials, HINOKI bathtub designed by Ryu Kosaka exalts at best the Japanese artisan work as well as the qualities of Hinoki wood.

Beyond its beauty and tactile gentleness, the oil of this Japanese cypress wood is renowned for its healing essences and its relaxing effect. The essences of this wood not only protect the bathtub itself, they also protect and cure the skin of the body while having a relaxed bath.

Material 300 year old solid Japanese cypress with 4 side straight grain without knot. Hinoki wood is a precious, limited resource traditionally used for the construction of Japanese shrines, temples and statues of buddha.

Tomoe bathtub

yukio-hashimoto.jpgThis bathtub designed by Yukio Hashimoto catches the eye with its elegantn lacquered surface. Black on tender red colour and the modern oval shape create an interesting contrast. This bathtub shows how modern materials can perfectly unite with traditional finishes to obtain superior performances in durability and beauty.

Material finished by Urushi, Japanese natural lacquer, the oldest finishing with antibacterial performance and heat durability.

Lato 4 by Velasco Vitali

On 21st April in the Project B /Contemporary Art , in Milan, the painter Velasco Vitali proposes his show made of works drawn on canvass. The pictures represent glimpses and modern and ancient monuments of the city of Milan.

004.JPGTaking a careful look, we can notice the Pirelli skyscraper, the arena and some of the most famous and important roads of the Lombardia’s capital, from Larga road up till Europa avenue. In this show the artist’s skills of defining the most symbolic places of the economic capital of the country are endless. Every painting tells the sinful succession of nostalgic events in favor of a perception focused more on chaos than on order. This exposition will be open for the public still tomorrow .

This exposition was reasserting its role as the only trade show in Italy able to offer a complete panorama of the art world through its 3 separate sections. Together, Modern, Contemporary, and Anteprima took in Italian and international art from the historic avant-garde to the most recent experimental works, attracting collectors with different interests and backgrounds.

We could see different artworks (paintings, sculptures, photography video and performing art) from modern classic art to contemporary art and anteprima, between which there were artworks from Dorazio, Ceroli, Rotella, Basquiat, Chagall, Balla, Andy Warhol, Lucio Fontana, Enzo Guaricci, Castellani, Yumu Karasumaru, David Raimondo, Sergio Lombardo, Aejandro Quincoces and many others.

During the exposition of Miart, the the prestigious conferences have been included. One of them is “Cina Intra/Extra Ovest,” which was the first event to establish a relationship of dialogue and exchange with China.

This year, the focus of Miart was on Latin America, a group of countries in perennial transformation in which the exigencies of art are defining a political and cultural identity.

First time under the umbrella title “fuoriMiArt-(con)temporary art” an unmissable program that presented the most exciting events in the whole city.

Also, The Miraggi project has grown from the desire of the Milan authority for urban design and parks to restore to its citizens a sense of Milan as a city that experiences art as a necessity, a right, a pleasure: A part of the whole.

For the end, the conclusion could be that Milan and MiArt have won again, that confirm the big interest of qualified public and the positive results of sales.

Rob Dobi:Fine art-old buildings and Tshirts

An American photographer and ilustrator and whatever else who does work primarily in the music industry for the bands . Graduated of Rhode Island School of Design with BFA in fine art, this great artist Rob Dobi says for himself:” I find as a photographer , I am able to give these abandoned structures a second life of sorts, preserving them in a picture for others to see and interpret the history for themselves.”As conformation for these words, he has launched the web site New England Ruins, where we could see furthermore photographer interest in abandoned buildings (prisons, mental health institutions, etc.)

But, also his project Fullbleed has become quite successful. Now is Fullbleed.org which could become clothing company. The inspiration for all shirts and posters usually just comes from looking at everyday events and attempting to juxtapose them in some manner.

However, all these creative things make sense.

Flower Design-Turin, from 18 th to 29 th March

Flowers have the strong power to speak volumes, even at times, we find ourselves lost for words.

This time in Turin, Flower design is considered a cultural movement, and offers the novelties in the sector, which bring together fashion, design, interior decor, art, environment. Ecology and technology in a movement which is continually reinventing itself and inspiring others.agenda000347_1.jpg

The “flower designer” Pietre M.Ldman, Elize Eveleens, Rob Pattel and Sjacco Gerritsen come from Holland, where flowers have been a vital part of the economy and lifestyle for centuries, where flowers are the “lifeblood” of the country, and are “lived” to the point that designer dare to carry out radical transformations: a pure but pliable and ephemeral raw material, though which to express ideas, feelings, symbols, resulting in accessible design modeled on a specific language, as international as music and dance.

BeCome Real, “A new vision of the daughters of Eve”- Nhow Hotel,Milan

An exposition period at Nhow hotel in Milan, show us the important appointment with the last fashion week. Woman and fashion. The match is quite foreseeable. The exhibition nhow dedicates to women titled ‘BeCome Real’ won’t. This exposition which is curated by Vanina Schenone & Elisabetta Scantamburlo, will be open to the public until April 11 th 2008.

The show gathers together a group of young artists different for subjects and styles. Each of them brings to nhow his/her own peculiar perspective of the daughters of Eve. The illusion of beauty and of looking, and the way they are shown to us by the fashion world, are given away in their inner frailty. Young, old, object, worker, ironic, critical, erotic, dramatic, etc.

English photographer David Stewart shows us women no longer in their prime and looking for a freshness that makes us smile and reflect at the same time. On the other side, he skilfully plays with feminine stereotypes. His pictures cleverly blend chromatic contrasts with sarcasm and play with social critic, thus achieving a deep visual and conceptual impact.

Rosaria lazzetta, versatile artist from Naples, makes use of her subtly salacious, acrimonious, nipping photographs to smile at the dreams of happiness and illusions many women foster. While Marta Comini introduces her little women drawn with simple traits, in search for their identity in the accessories they choose to wear.

Womanly in shapes, soft and seductive are also the design pieces that go along with the art display in all the exhibition areas of the hotel. Young emergent designers have a try at interpreting sensuality giving it the shape of tantalising and provocative seats and lightning pieces. Daniel Becker, Laurie Beckermann, Aviad Gil, Jaren Goh, Assaf Israel, Miss Julia, Marko Macura, Niels van Eijk & Miriam van der Lubbe. Already hosted in the past at nhow, and here again showing their pieces are the Campana brothers, produced by Edra for Dilmos, Gateano Pesce for Meritalia, Moroso, Romolo Stanco for Nonesiste, Matteo Thun. New presences joining the group are those of Adrenalina, with some ironic creations by Simone Micheli, and of MagisDesign, with the elegant seats designed by Ron Arad and Javier Mariscal.

An exclusivity is the set up in the lobby of a minigolf course bringing relaxation from the reception desk to the outside area, by Georg Pal and Hannes Weber.

Everyone can be reporter, iReport.com by CNN

People argue about what constitutes daily news. But, really, it’s just something that happens someplace to someone. Whether that something is newsworthy mostly depends on who it affects — and who’s making the decision. On iReport.com, the new web site by CNN, everyone can be reporter.

Pro-EU movement held protest in BelgradeNot so long time ago, CNN launched an independent world , the iReport community, the place where people can tell their stories without editing. First time a brand new beta site for uncensored, user-powered news.

On this site you find to share and talk about the news of your world, whether that’s video and photos of the events of your life, or your own take on what’s making international headlines. Or, even better, a little bit of both.

Tell your story and see how it connects to someone on the other side of the world — and build a new kind of news site, one made from communities of shared interests, impassioned discussions and great storytelling.
